Mary Fenon

My Proud Story...

On April 20, 2006 a miracle was given to me, my daughter, Mackenzie Fenon. When she was two years old, she was diagnosed with STAR Syndrome, which stands for Auto Dominant Gene Disorder with Renal and Anogenital Malformations with Syndactyl, a condition that only afflicts ten females worldwide. She has since made it through hundreds of appointments and 14 major surgeries. With all the time I spent in a hospital learning with Mackenzie since the day she was born, I observed some of the most caring individuals in all facets of the healthcare industry, and I knew I wanted to be part of it.

My daughter is now completely healthy and living a wonderful life, so I knew it was my time to get into the healthcare field. I was hired by SLUHN as a temporary employee last year for the EPIC project as a credentialed trainer. I have since moved into a new role as a financial counselor. I am now pursuing my degree in healthcare administration. Joining St. Luke's University Health Network has been one of the best decisions of my life. My true passion, of course, is to be a wonderful mother to my child, but with everything I went through with Mackenzie, I also believe strongly in making a difference through my work in the healthcare field.
