Interventional Cardiology Fellowship

The St. Luke’s Interventional Cardiology Training Program provides a one-year Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited subspecialty training for physicians who have completed clinical fellowship in cardiology in an accredited program. The objective of the program is to train subspecialists who are proficient in performing coronary/vascular interventions and structural heart disease procedures.

Working closely with a team of board-certified interventional faculty members, the fellow is trained in coronary interventions including the use of rotational atherectomy, thrombectomy, FFR, IVUS, and OCT. Pericardiocentesis is performed with support from the noninvasive imaging team. Mechanical support for complex coronary cases includes the use of intra-aortic balloon counterpulsation and the Impella support device. In addition, ECMO support is available via consultation with our surgical colleagues. The fellow will participate in all phases of the patent’s care, including careful assessment before the procedure and close follow-up until discharge. The fellow will have an outpatient clinic to permit follow-up of invasive studies.
