Scholarly Activity at Anderson

Research Institute

Participation in scholarly activity is an ACGME mandated part of training. St. Luke’s is fortunate to have a world-class team of dedicated research professionals who specialize in a broad range of highly specialized skills, including biostatistics, data collection, grant preparation, regulatory compliance, clinical trials coordination, manuscript writing, among many others. St. Luke’s Department of Research and Innovation actively facilitates and coordinates research efforts across our Network.

Specifically, the Graduate Medical Education (GME) Data Management and Outcomes Assessment Department assists physicians (including residents, fellows, and faculty members); medical students; nurses; administrative staff; and other SLUHN employees with their research and quality improvement project needs. Services include:

  • planning and implementing research and quality improvement projects and designs
  • statistically analyzing data and summarizing results
  • helping with Institutional Review Board (IRB) research project submission
  • assisting with research and quality improvement presentations
  • providing lectures and workshops on various research topics
  • writing grant proposals

“Helping residents and fellows with their research and quality improvement project planning is an important and enjoyable part of my job. As someone who actually likes statistics, I reassure trainees that I’m here to make their lives as stress-free as possible when it comes to conducting both research and quality improvement.”

“I offer training designed to advance residents’ and fellows’ knowledge of the basic principles of how research is conducted, evaluated, explained to patients, and applied to patient care. Besides giving research and quality improvement lectures, and statistical data analysis, I love interacting with residents during journal club presentations.”
